Lockin China held 2016 Global University Career Development (CHINA) Conference

As a kick-off event to a series of career development activities planned by Lockin China in 2016, the Global University Career Development Conference (GUCDC) was held from 17th to 23rd April in Beijing and Shanghai. The Conference united universities all over the world, aiming at helping Chinese returnees seeking for job opportunities better understand the Chinese job market and providing them supports during job seeking. Three Career development fairs in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen were run in conjunction with the conference as an annual global event.

From April 17th to 23rd, 2016, Lockin China held in Beijing the first Career Development Conference for Global Elite Universities. A total of 28 heads of career office from the US, Australia, Britain, Germany and Spain attended the conference. They represented over 20 global elites universities such as University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), Michigan State University, Northeastern University, University of Sydney, University of New South Wales, University of Technology Sydney (UTS), the University of Adelaide, the University of Warwick, ESADE Business School, Technische Universität München etc.

Relax course at Decathlon
During the conference time, heads of career offices visited four companies, namely DiDi, Decathlon, BOE and BFSU International, which are representatives of MNCs, SOEs and private enterprises and all have great demands for returnees. This tour gives overseas universities an intuitive understanding of Chinese companies and their recruitments.

Two-day Conference in Gubei Watertown
The conference invited the CEO of Lockin China, Dr. Mark Liu from Beijing Normal University and some professional interviewers, and shared with heads of offices the “Chinese Overseas Elites Career Development Report 2016” as well as the interview system of Chinese companies. It also introduced China-specific issues including the job-seeking psychologies of returnees, income levels, procedures of recruitment and sample interview questions.

Moreover, mock group interviews and individual interviews were also carried out to restore the real format and procedure of interview of Chinese companies.

On the last day of the event, the officers attended the Chinese Returnees Career Development Fair in Shanghai, one of three returnee exclusive recruitment events held by Lockin China in this spring. At the fair, heads of career offices developed in-depth conversations with HRs from 50 companies attending the fair. None of them could stop wondering at the great number of visits of over 1400 persons, which marks the returnees’ recruitment fair in terms of participation.
